Our L-shape concrete retaining walls are manufactured to BS EN 13369:2013, and designed to last between 50 and 100 years.
They are the perfect solution for soil retention in construction or the deployment of robust storage bays.
One of four main retaining wall types, comprising gravity walls, embedded and reinforced walls, cantilever wall systems rely on their base to cope with vertical stress behind it.
Their design enables them to stand alone, with lateral earth pressure from the soil mass helping maintain stability and preventing the constructed wall from sliding or falling over.
Our L-shape cantilever retaining wall units are made from Cement Type CEM I. This precast element has 28-day compressive strength C45/55 and exposure class XD2, which can be altered as required.
Our cantilever walls are designed to retain material up to 18Kn/m³ and AoR 30° or an additional 10Kn/m³, with manufacturing tolerances based on BS EN 13369:2013 and BS EN 13670:2009.
Once built, an L-shaped retaining wall is suitable for construction heights of up to five metres without requiring additional support, despite taking up relatively small amounts of space.
The L-shape concrete blocks are fixed to a reinforced concrete strip or foundation, eliminating the need for steel RSJs, columns or other frames and structures, reducing outlay without compromising quality.
Our cantilever retaining walls are available in 1000mm or 2000mm widths across a variety of sizes and specifications, including single and double load, and tapered, depending on your project needs. They have a 45mm nominal cover as standard with steel reinforcements to BS4449-05 (Grade B500B).
The main benefit of the L shaped cantilever retaining walls is how quickly they can be installed. A three-man team can easily deploy 50 linear metres of retaining wall per day, sometimes more.
We supply fixing kits and utilise a quick-set resin anchor system, enabling the reinforced concrete walls to be constructed faster than in-situ pours of retaining walls.
